Kim Carnes (born July 20,1945 in Los Angeles, California) is an American singer-songwriter. She is noted for her distinctive, raspy voice which she attributes to many hours spent singing in smoky bars and clubs.
Carnes was a member of New Christy Minstrels from 1966 until 1970. Kenny Rogers was also a member, and during this time Carnes met and married Dave Ellingson, with whom she would write most of her songs. For a short while in the early 1970s, she and Ellingson formed the folk duo Kim and Dave, which was not successful.

THERE’S SO MANY PEOPLE
This song is about now, modern life, it’s about justice, and freedom, and equality. nothing has really changed in our modern world, we are all going backward. People should not have to suffer in this day and age, they should have basic living rights, to live in their own country, to have a home, hot and cold water, fair pay, good housing, people should be able to support their selves and their families. Build a good community. For themselves, to live of their land and to just be civilised human beings. Who want to better themselves, to evolve to make a better world for all.

Desperate Moves
"Desperate Moves" is a rock instrumental piece, and the very first music composition I ever recorded. I wrote this back in 2001. This version was re-recorded in 2009. I could never find a decent vocal melody to match the music, hence why it has remained an instrumental. I'm playing all the instruments on this track.more
